Calderon: Denies Cats speculation
Mexican striker Nestor Calderon has denied rumours that he is in talks over a proposed move to Sunderland.
The 20-year-old forward, who plays in the Mexican top-flight for Toluca, is reportedly being tracked by the Black Cats who are rumoured to be interested in bringing him to the Premier League.
Sunderland signed Paraguayan defender Paulo da Silva in the summer, who spent six years at Toluca, and he is thought to be a friend of Calderon.
However, the young striker has denied talking to the Wearside club, and says he is focused on winning the league with his current side.
"Nobody has spoken to me about the chance of being transferred to Sunderland," he said.
"I don't even know where it comes from this information that I will meet there with Paulo da Silva, I haven't seen or even spoken with him since he left Toluca.
"There isn't anything clear, I have my mind focused on Toluca, ending the championship in the best way and then if there is a proposal I will take what I think is the best decision."
Toluca president Fernando Corona also denied that his club had received any proposal from Sunderland.
"There isn't anything official," he said. "I got surprised when I heard the news because nobody has called us at all being interested in Calderon."
