Portsmouth manager Paul Hart felt his side's emphatic 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic was reward for their endeavour in recent weeks.

The South Coast club have struggled this campaign and, despite their victory against the Latics, they remain bottom of the table.

But, having struggled for Premier League goals of late, there were many positives for Hart to take from their triumph at Fratton Park.

Asked if he found the performance 'satisfying', Hart said: "(Satisfying) is slightly understated. I think it was pretty satisfying.

"We have sat here for the past few weeks and tried to explain how the performances haven't turned into three points.

"But I think today we got our rewards for our belief in the way we play, and I thought we thoroughly deserved it.

"It was refreshing to come off and get something for the hard work that we put in."

Dindane

Hart also reserved praise for hat-trick hero Aruna Dindane, who inspired Pompey's victory against mid-table Wigan.

He said: "His performance today has been just the same, but he turned it into goals.

"You could see from his reaction that he was desperate to score. He has questioned himself, but we have stood by him.

"His performances, if you take away that he hasn't scored goals, have been excellent, he causes untold problems for defenders and that (his hat-trick) was the icing on the cake.

"I said that if we continue to make chances and get in the right place then it will turn."

Hart also revealed good news about Frederic Piquionne, who left the field in the second half on a stretcher.

"He took a knock on the back of the neck and I think he was startled for a little while, but he is fine now," Hart added.
