QPR boss Jim Magilton rued his side's missed chances after the Hoops were pegged back 1-1 by Crystal Palace at Loftus Road.

An Akos Buzsaky penalty put Magilton's side into the lead in the 19th minute but Darren Ambrose equalised for the Eagles on 62 minutes also from the penalty spot.

Some fine goalkeeping from Julian Speroni late on ensured the derby between the Championship's only two London sides ended all square, with Magilton's side moving into the last play-off berth with the point.

Magilton said: "We were at home so it is two points dropped.

"You look at the amount of chances we created, and we've had a string of games when we converted those chances, so we could have been out of sight by half-time.

"Sometimes you rue missed chances and tonight was one of those games. And then the keeper has kept them in it."

He added: "I didn't see much argument from them about our penalty - but then I didn't see much argument from us about theirs, although it was maybe soft."

But Magilton also took positives from the game.

"There is so many positives to take from the game - we've just got to probably be a little bit more ruthless and a little bit more determined because we know that the opposition, especially Crystal Palace, have a certain way of playing and maybe just a little bit more bravery on the ball but I can't fault them really."

Warnock pleased

Palace boss Neil Warnock hailed his side's spirit after coming from behind to earn a point.

"I felt at half-time we could go on and win the game, we came back into it and had some great chances, so I'm disappointed in a way," said Warnock.

"But it was a good game. And they were both certain penalties.

"My players gave me everything, and if they hadn't we'd have been turned over."

Warnock believed his side had tired a little bit towards the end because they had an extra day travelling up to Preston last week and QPR had played Friday, but his side had created some good chances.

"But overall, just a great game for the fans really," he said.

The Eagles boss also hailed Speroni after he pulled off stunning second-half saves.

"He's the best keeper in this division by a mile, and I don't see anyone better in the Premier League," said Warnock.

"It's good that nobody rates him. But he's not leaving this club while I'm manager - unless I take him somewhere with me."
