Bristol City have had plans over a move to a new stadium approved by the council after they agreed to a 'minded to approve decision'.

The verdict was reached after a four-and-a-half hour meeting on Wednesday, with a seven-to-two vote in favour of the build the eventual outcome.

Robins chief executive Colin Sexstone and manager Gary Johnson were in attendance at the meeting as the Championship club looked to push forward plans to build a new 30,000-seater stadium.

The new stadium will be built on the Alderman Moores allotments but the club is still to satisfy the council over some aspects, including pedestrian access to the arena and housing that will be available on the site.

"There were a lot of contentious issues in this and emotions were going to be high," Sexstone told the club's official website.

"We understand that but overall this is very good news and we're very pleased."
