Aston Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov will miss the game against Bolton on Saturday due to suspension.

Petrov picked up a yellow card against West Ham in the 2-1 defeat on Wednesday and will not be available for the Trotters clash as it his fifth booking of the season.

Last season players who picked up a fifth yellow card had seven days before a suspension came into effect, but now any ban is immediate.

The Villa skipper joins defender Habib Beye on the sidelines after the full-back was sent off for two bookable offences at Upton Park, and manager Martin O'Neill will have to make a number of changes for the game.

O'Neill also has doubts over striker Emile Heskey (back), winger James Milner (calf) and midfielder Craig Gardner (groin) for the Bolton game, although Carlos Cuellar returns from suspension.

Nigel Reo-Coker could move into midfield in Petrov's absence, after he came on as a substitute against West Ham - although he has not started a league game since his training ground spat with O'Neill in September.
