Newcastle United look to maintain their place in top spot as we look ahead to another action-packed weekend of Championship football, with three matches live on Sky Sports.

Despite off-field distractions, the Magpies are flying high in the Championship and are currently two points clear of West Brom.

Newcastle will look to maintain their place at the summit as they tackle second from bottom Peterborough United at St James' Park.

Should Newcastle slip-up West Bromwich Albion could take advantage. The Baggies, though, face a tough looking prospect as travel to Midlands rivals Leicester - who sit just a point adrift of them in fourth and could move into second with victory at the Walkers Stadium.

If Leicester and West Brom draw, then that could allow third place Cardiff City to take advantage.

The Bluebirds travel to South Wales rivals Swansea City in Saturday's early kick-off - a match you can see live on Sky Sports 1 & HD1.

On Monday there is a South Yorkshire derby clash at Oakwell as Barnsley entertain Sheffield United on Sky Sports 1 & HD1.

Back to Saturday, fifth placed Bristol City travel to Nottingham Forest, who have not lost since mid-September.

Queens Park Rangers will look to consolidate their place in the top-six as they face a trip to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday.

Blackpool are looking to get back to winning ways as they host Scunthorpe United at Bloomfield Road.

Middlesbrough dropped down to eighth after defeat in Gordon Strachan's opening match in charge against Plymouth last week and they will be looking to put that right as they travel south to face Crystal Palace.

Ipswich could move off the bottom of the table this weekend; indeed they could be out of the drop zone with victory at Reading.

Plymouth will be looking to make sure they do not drop back into the relegation places as they host Doncaster Rovers at Home Park.

Finally, Preston North End travel to meet Watford at Vicarage Road.
