Stoke City boss Tony Pulis insists he has no problem with Tuncay Sanli's reaction to being substituted against Hull City after expressing his disappointment at Abdoulaye Faye's red card.

Faye was sent off in the 2-1 defeat at the KC Stadium with three minutes to go after picking up a second yellow card for a challenge on Nick Barmby.

With the score level at the time, Pulis opted to introduce Andy Wilkinson for Tuncay, who had only been on the pitch himself for a matter of minutes.

The Turkish ace was unhappy at being hauled off and walked down the tunnel, but Pulis can understand why Tuncay was upset.

"I've got no problems with that, but it still won't stop me doing it again," said Pulis.

"It is not about me or Tuncay; it is about the team. We have lost a centre-half, so we had to put another defender on."

Desperately disappointed

Commenting on Faye's dismissal, Pulis said: "I'm desperately disappointed with the two bookings. The second one, looking at the replays, he had not caught Nick Barmby at all."

The Potters had led at half-time through Matthew Etherington's goal, but former Stoke midfielder Seyi Olofinjana levelled for Hull on 62 minutes.

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink poached an injury-time winner after goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen had spilled a shot and Pulis was disappointed that his team had let a lead slip again.

"We're disappointed," he said.

"It is the third time we have led away from home this year and not won the game.

"We weren't at our best - but when Matty scored we were hoping that would take us on."
