Young: Quitting England duty
Luke Young has declined the chance to replace Glen Johnson in the England squad and has retired from international football.
It is understood Young made the decision last year to quit international football informing the FA around the time of the Spain friendly in February that he would concentrate on club football after being on the periphery of the squad and earning seven caps in four years.
The 30-year-old right-back was in the original squad for the defeat in Seville but did not travel after picking up a toe injury.
The absence of Johnson left England manager Fabio Capello with only Wes Brown as cover at right-back.
It is thought an enquiry was made over whether Young was still unavailable, rather than a case of the former Tottenham and Charlton full-back rejecting a call-up for the trip to face Dunga's men in Qatar.
The 30-year-old has made the decision to quit England to focus on playing for Premier League outfit Villa.
The former Tottenham and Charlton defender won seven caps for England, with his last appearance coming against Argentina in 2005.

I think that was the wrong decision. He just missed out on a chance to play the best team in the world and a chance to impress Cappelo. He should of just stood up to the challenge ahead!

Seriously, a footballer quitting international football AFTER being selected to play for England against Brazil?!!! You just know he's going to regret that decision later in his life!

I'm shocked at home anybody could turn their back on their country like this. This man is a disgrace and England are better off without cowards like him in the squad!!!!!

Let's see if Mr. Young gets the same treatment from the press as Jamie Carragher did in this situation - I very much doubt he will!

No great loss. But you've got to question the mentality of someone who will turn their back on their country though.
