QPR have suffered a blow with the news that midfielder Gavin Mahon faces up to four months on the sidelines.

Mahon requires an operation on a knee problem and he will not be back until February.

The 32-year-old joins Martin Rowlands on the long-term absentees list for Rangers.

"It's a blow losing a very experienced player," said Rangers manager Jim Magilton.

"We suffered a major setback earlier in the season when we lost Martin but bounced back in style and I'm confident we've got the squad to bounce back again."

Meanwhile, striker Rowan Vine will be out for a fortnight after undergoing a hernia operation in Germany.
