Zaki: Portsmouth speculation
Sulaiman Al Fahim is trying to persuade Portsmouth manager Paul Hart to sign Egyptian striker Amr Zaki.
Former Wigan forward Zaki has been continually linked with a move to Fratton Park since the summer but Hart is reportedly concerned about the player's attitude and fears he could have a negative impact on the Pompey dressing room.
The 26-year-old controversially failed to report back to the Latics last season after a spell on international duty, and then Wigan boss Steve Bruce labelled him the most unprofessional player he had ever worked with.
But former Pompey owner Al Fahim, who still holds a 10 per cent share in the club after the takeover of Ali Al-Faraj, would love to see Zaki in a Portsmouth shirt - although admits the decision is out of his hands.
"It's not my decision, it is up to Paul Hart and Avram Grant but I would like to see Amir Zaki," he told The News.
"He loves Portsmouth. He calls me almost every week and he wants to be part of the Portsmouth team.
"He is a player who could add value. The price we could get him for is also good."
Zaki moved to Wigan at the beginning of last season on a season-long loan deal for £1.5million, and he bagged 10 Premier League goals in a miraculous arrival to English football.
However, a dip in form and the fall out with Steve Bruce meant he fell out of favour and returned to Egyptian side El Zamalek.
