Hull manager Phil Brown says midfielder Jimmy Bullard has lifted the mood at the KC Stadium.

The Tigers had been on a poor run of form before the 31-year-old returned to the starting line-up against Stoke after a long-term injury a fortnight ago, and he was the catalyst for most of Hull's play against West Ham on Saturday.

Bullard moved to the KC Stadium in January for a £5million club record fee, and Brown is finally seeing the signing pay dividends on the pitch.

"I take it back to when we were in the Championship and we brought in Jay-Jay Okocha," he said.

"He was a catalyst for good football, he was a catalyst for the way we played in a lot of games.

"Jimmy is not Jay-Jay Okocha by any stretch of the imagination, but he is the same kind of character.

"He brings a belief even in tight situations and a trust, and I think that trust is spreading.

"That's five goals in two games now and hopefully that belief with the ball is coming back."

Hull have managed 13 points from 12 games in the Premier League so far this season and pressure has been building on manager Brown.

The 10-man Tigers held on for a draw against the Hammers on Saturday, despite going 3-2 up, and their next game is against Everton on Wednesday.
