Filippo Inzaghi is hoping to be offered the opportunity to see out his playing days at AC Milan.

The veteran frontman is set to be out of contract next summer, after nine years with the Rossoneri.

He is, however, hopeful that a new deal will be put to him, enabling him to complete at least a decade of service at Giuseppe Meazza.

The World Cup winner accepts that he may be forced to move on, should he be deemed surplus to requirements, but insists he would have no qualms with taking on a fresh challenge elsewhere.

"I'm really calm about it at the moment," he told Italia 1.

"(Adriano) Galliani told me a while ago that we will sit down and talk about my future at some point in January or February.

"Should the club officials want me to stay, I will stay at AC Milan. I dream of ending my career with the Rossoneri."

The 36-year-old added: "If not, I will go and player somewhere else, because I have never felt as good as I do now.

"No-one else can make decisions for me, only I will decide when I hang up my boots.

"I will decide at the right moment but until then, while I still feel useful, I will continue to play."
