Bullard: Scores from the spot
Danny Gabbidon revealed West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green was unsure whether Jimmy Bullard or Bernard Mendy was going to take the penalty for Hull.
In the end Bullard smashed home from the spot after referee Mark Clattenburg had awarded the Tigers what looked to be a very dubious penalty when Julien Faubert was adjudged to have pushed Craig Fagan.
However Gabbidon highlighted that Green thought Mendy and Bullard were trying to replicate a move attempted by Thierry Henry and Robert Pires for Arsenal against Manchester City in 2005 which was first seen when Johann Cruyff passed to Ajax team-mate Jesper Olsen from the spot in 1982.
The Welsh defender started just his second Premier League game of the season at the KC Stadium but felt the penalty should have been retaken for encroachment.
"Rob says he wasn't sure who was going to take the penalty," he told The Sun.
"It was a good pen from Bullard but Mendy was running behind him. Usually that gets pulled up for encroachment.
"Rob was worried they were going to do a Henry and Pires. I didn't know who would take the kick."

I must be missing something (It has been known in the past). Firstly as far as I'm aware whichever player places the ball on the spot has to be the one to take the penalty. Secondly the ball can not be passed to another player of the side awarded the penalty as this counts as two touches for a penalty kick. By the way it was never a penalty in the first place.

It was a terrible decision by the referee and Greeno is stating his opinion, and lets be honest, he's saved enough penalties to know about this sort of thing! I wonder if we're going to write a letter to FIFA suggesting the match be replayed on the basis of a dodgy decision? Thought not, cos things like this happen in football. We only have ourselves to blame though, we should be able to protect a two nil lead against as poor a team as Hull!

Lets all be honest, it was never a pen in the first place... Faubert's eyes fixed on the ball, he tries to jump and is blocked by a backing in Fagan who falls over like a little girl... Awful decision by the referee, and what with the luck on bullards free-kick, i think Hull have used up a large slice of this season's lady luck....

It's no way a doggy excuse! When you have roughly 16 odd players entering a penelty box it can confuse people. It was fare from a foul let alone a penalty.

the hull players clearly encroached into the penalty area therefore meaning that the penalty should have had to be retaken which means it is a very legitimate excuse. rules are rules

To be fair it was obvious who was taking it, However, it should have not been a penalty in the first place, can someone please tell me where the foul was? Secondly, it should have been retaken there were like 10 people in the box before the kick was even taken. I thought the ref was very weak in that game, but not for just west ham, for hull as well.

I don't think it's an excuse, more just a fact that he was confused. It was a silly decision to allow the penalty anyway. I think Hull got lucky with 2 of their 3 goals...

Hmm.. kind of dodgy just like how you were awarded this penalty in the first place on your home turf... Don't you worry about how Greeno handles penalty kicks either, he's probably got the best save percentage in the premier league for those having faced a minimum of 5 pk's in the last 1.5 seasons.

Mr Lambrettaman (Hull City fan) says...
What a dodgy excuse, it was clear that Bullard was going to take it and Green should be watching the ball, not our right back.
