Gael Kakuta revealed that he worked extra hard prior to making his debut against Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The 19-year-old hit the headlines following Fifa's decision to hit Chelsea with a two-window transfer embargo for inducing Kakuta to break his contract with Lens in 2007.

The Frenchman was suspended for four months as a result but was made available for selection at the weekend after the Blues' appeal through the Court of Arbitration enabled both bans to be suspended until February at least.

Kakuta was able to perform without any pressure with Carlo Ancelotti's men 4-0 up when he came off the bench but he highlights that his double training sessions during his time out were responsible for his lively showing at the Bridge.

"I have been out because of the ban so I have been working hard every day in training doing double sessions and I feel good," he told the Evening Standard.

"It has felt a bit like doing pre-season. When the boys have finished training I have still been working in the afternoon.

"I've been waiting a long time to make my debut and I am really happy to have done it. I wasn't nervous at all. Whenever I play I just try to do my best."
