Burnley boss Owen Coyle has revealed he would like to turn David Nugent's loan deal into a permanent move.

Nugent is currently on loan until January after arriving from Portsmouth on transfer deadline day.

The England cap has scored two goals since his arrival at Turf Moor and came off the bench in Saturday's draw with Aston Villa.

Coyle is a big admirer of Nugent and is keen to keep him at the club on a full-time basis.

"David Nugent is a top-class player. If I could get him in permanently tomorrow I would love to do it," he said.

"He is probably similar to one or two others in that he is a bit frustrated. But that is what we want - competition for places."
