Petrescu: Verging on second-round

Boss Dan Petrescu admits Unirea Urziceni are tiring after a string of battling performances leaves his side on the verge of the UEFA Champions League second round.

After a 1-0 win over La Liga high-flyers Sevilla, Unirea only need to avoid defeat away to Stuttgart in their final Group G game to progress.

The Germans also secured a fine win on Tuesday as they grabbed a 2-0 victory over Rangers at Ibrox to end the Scottish club's hopes and keep their own alive.

Petrescu admits his frustration that his side have still got work to do, despite exceeding expectation in the competition to date.

"When you win against a team like Sevilla and you have eight points, you would like to have been already qualified," Petrescu told TVR 1.

"But I guess every match in this competition has to be the match of our lives. You get tired at some point."

An own goal by Sevilla defender Ivica Dragutinovic on the stroke of half-time handed the Romanian champions their victory.

The goal came against the run of play and, despite a better second-half showing, the home side were clinging on for the win in the end.

The battling performance did little to disturb Unirea defender George Galamaz.

"We are extremely happy, we did not manage a spectacular game but we have managed to win," he told TVR 1.
