Wes Brown bemoaned a lack of finishing after Manchester United lost 1-0 to Besiktas at Old Trafford.

A 20th minute Rodrigo Tello strike inflicted a first home defeat in 24 European matches on United.

The Red Devils pushed for an equaliser but opposition keeper Recber Rustu was in inspired form to keep Sir Alex Ferguson's side at bay, while Patrice Evra had a valid penalty claim turned down late on after being impeded by Ibrahim Kas in the box.

The loss means Ferguson's side still need a point in their final group game against Wolfsburg on 8th December to ensure they top Group B.

Disappointed

Brown told Sky Sports that the Red Devils created chances but did not finish any, adding: "I think they made a few chances in the game, scored one but in all a bit disappointed we didn't get the draw but that's football.

"(It's) disappointing to lose our winning streak at home in Europe so it's one of those nights really."

Brown added there had been a lot of changes to the team, with Ferguson bringing in a few young players.

"The gaffer changed the team around a bit. We played good football, we had chances but we just didn't put them away and I think you need to do that in Europe," he said.

Carry on

"Maybe we should have got a penalty with Patrice but that happens sometimes so we've just got to carry on now for Saturday."

While the defeat was disappointing, Brown took solace from United's good form domestically.

"We've done well in the league recently so we've just got to keep on going and playing our football and we know that we'll get the results," he concluded.
