Rafa Benitez is confident Spanish shot-stopper Jose Reina will sign a contract extension at Liverpool.

The highly-rated 27-year-old is already tied down to the Reds until 2012, but the club are keen to prolong that deal still further.

Improved terms are already on the table, with the goalkeeper currently weighing up his options.

Reina has expressed a desire to remain at Anfield in the past and has given no indication that he is looking to move elsewhere.

Therefore, Benitez fully expects the Spain international to put pen to paper on a new deal in the not too distant future.

Improving

"We are very happy with him," he said.

"He has been improving every single year and he will improve more because goalkeepers have more time in their career.

"He's always positive and he's one of the best in the training sessions because his attitude is always good.

"It depends on the agent and what the player wants but Pepe is very happy here in Liverpool so I don't see a big problem.

"The team-mates love him because he's a very good example."
