Bullard: Back in January
On the negative front we are losing a very good player for six weeks, but on the other side it could have been a lot longer.
Phil Brown
Quotes of the week
Hull City manager Phil Brown has told Sky Sports News that Jimmy Bullard has not suffered any serious knee ligament damage.
The influential midfielder has been ruled out for six to eight weeks, but that is a boost as there were serious fears he could have suffered cruciate knee ligament damage for a third time in his career.
Bullard suffered his latest injury at Aston Villa on Saturday, and he was visibly upset amid fears his season could have been over before it had barely started.
Bullard only made his comeback from his last injury in October, but his impact was tremendous as he won Premier League Player of the Month for November.
Now scans have confirmed that he has only sprained medial ligaments, which will rule him out until the end of January.
"Jimmy is going to be out between six and eight weeks, a totally separate injury to anything he has had before," Brown told Sky Sports News.
"It is a grade 2 sprain on his medial ligament, it is not connected with anterior cruciate ligament.
"Whichever way you look - on the negative front we are losing a very good player for six weeks, but on the other side it could have been a lot longer.
"It has been a horrendous day [waiting], but you talk about popularity - the amount of well wishers and people asking about Jimmy, it is fantastic the response to one of the most popular players in the country.
"I am hopeful that Jimmy will be back on the field of play before the transfer window closes - that is what I am looking at and hopefully what everyone else is looking at.
"It also gives us a chance to strengthen his other leg, it hasn't been a problem but it gives us a chance to strengthen."

Shame, he will be a big miss! I think he is the same as David Dunn at Rovers, they are both technically very good players, there is no doubt that they would both be in the England squad regularly as they have both featured. Although i think that had Dunny stayed fit then he wouldn't have been at Rovers. When will F.C. learn that fat Frank is shockingly bad for England and drop him! WE need Hargreaves back, with Carrick in CM and Gerrard playing off Rooney as an attacking CM

Says it all really, doesn't it? A great bloke who's just narrowly missed out on another horrendous injury and all positive, supporting, remarks from fans all over the country except for ....the Arsenal fan!

Nick Gray (Sunderland fan) says...
Jimmy Bullard has already caught the eye of the England coach, but I think this latest unfortunate injury has cost him any chance of a World Cup place. The Arsenal fan (Nick Cook) is quite entitled to his opinion of Jimmy Bullard bearing in mind that Arsenal¿s title hopes are already over and we have only just kicked off which is a fact, not an opinion.

Jimmy B is a quality footballer, a player that plays the game with a smile on his face and wants to play come rain or shine. Hope he gets back playing soon as the premiership is better with him. An outside chance of making the world cup squad if he can stay fit!!! Not just for his ability but would imagine a great character to have in the camp

William Lester (Hull City fan) says...
Jimmy Bullard has done in one month for Hull City more than the majority of the so called "superstars" in the top premier sides and is worthy of the player of the month trophy. He is the perfect all-round footballer who gives you the impression that he would gladly play for nothing in exchange for an injury free season.Fabio should stop focusing on the top teams and look for the real talent but sadly can't see him bothering to come to the KC or an away fixture for that matter!!!JB would make such a big difference to the england team but then again so would michael turner if he had been playing for Man u,chelsea, arsenal etc.lGet well soon Jimmy, the tigers need you now, more than ever.

So glad to hear that the injury isn't as bad as was first thought, Jimmy is a joy to watch and if it wasn't for the injuries he would be first choice for the England squad, can't wait to see him back!!

Jimmy B, quality player and judging by what I have seen on Soccer Am and other tv shows, a really nice bloke. Glad to see he will be on the mend quicker than first feared. Everyone likes a cheeky chappy and Jimmy is a top man.

Paul Budd (Fulham fan) says...
Despite being annoyed at him for demanding wages we could not pay and saying he was moving to a 'bigger club' I am gald that he is not seriously injured. He has a fantastic personality and all the Fulham faithfull adored him as a player, he really can be world class when he is at his best. Unfortunately I dont think Hull can live without him, he makes things happen and instils confidence that no other player can. Good luck Jimmy!

Never like to see a player get injured, but got to say to Hull - thanks for the 5m and taking a 4 year 40k per week contract off our hands.... Genuinely hope the fella recovers ASAP though.

Brilliant news about JB, he is one of those rare players who can lift both home and away supporters with his skills and personality. I wish him a speedy recovery and cannot wait to see him scoring a few more goals next year.

Glad its not the cruciate knee ligament again....all the best to Jimmy, hopefully he'll be playing a key role in helping Hull avoid relegation in the new year.

David Kelly (Manchester United fan) says...
Jimmy Bullard is an absolute legend. His celebration at the swamp (Easlands) was hilarious, always a laugh on soccer am aswell! If he's fit he deserves to be in the England squad on merit and determination, hes made a massive difference to Hulls performances since hes come back from theat horrific injury..... However, he will not make the squad as all England managers seem to have a reluctance to drop Lampard although he is rubbish for England! Bullard should be 3rd choice in centre midfeield behind; Gerrard, Carrick. All the best Jimmy!

Tyler Metcalfe says...
Jimmy Bullard really has been a true inspiration for the Tigers since his return and must've been in Capello's mind despite comments from Nick Cook (Arsenal fan, and way off the mark). I was gutted when I initially saw the injury - been there, know that feeling. Thankfully he wont be out as long as suspected and the injury isnt as bad as feared. We need Jimmy Bullard playing for Hull and the Premiership needs players/characters like him who play with heart and commitment but who also show people that they are genuinely enjoying being a professional footballer.
