The wintery weather has hit the Festive programme with fixtures postponed across the country.

Football matches throughout the country are expected to be severely affected and a number lower league fixtures have fallen victim to the weather.

The Championship game between Preston and Barnsley has been postponed.

In League One the following games have also been called off:

Oldham v Tranmere

Bristol Rovers v Walsall

Carlisle v Huddersfield

And in League Two, these games have failed to make it:

Bury v Bradford

Notts County v Grimsby

Port Vale v Burton

Rotherham v Darlington

In Scotland the SPL clash between St Mirren and Aberdeen has gone, whilst only two fixtures in the Scottish Football League have survived.

In Racing, the Boxing Day meeting at Towcester has fallen foul of the weather with the track covered in snow.

The Northamptonshire track has been hit by snow and a heavy frost - and with more freezing temperatures expected, officials were left with no choice but to call off the meeting now.

Kempton are very confident of holding their feature meeting on Boxing Day while Huntingdon and Wincanton both passed morning inspections and will go ahead as planned, along with the all-weather meeting at Wolverhampton.

The news is not so good for Sedgefield, Market Rasen and Wetherby, though, with all three venues failing to pass inspections.

Wetherby has also called off its Sunday card.

In Rugby League, Warrington's Boxing Day friendly against Widnes was postponed following a pitch inspection at the Stobart Stadium and re-arranged for Sunday, January 3.

Featherstone Rovers' Boxing Day friendly with fellow Championship club Doncaster has also been postponed following an 8am pitch inspection because of frost.
