Stoke boss Tony Pulis has admitted he would not stand in Peter Reid's way if he was offered the manager's job at Bolton.

Reid, who is currently Pulis' assistant manager at Stoke, is the bookmakers' favourite to succeed Gary Megson at the Reebok Stadium.

Pulis would be happy to see Reid return to management in his own right if Bolton came in for him and he wanted to leave the Britannia Stadium.

"If Peter came to me and said he wanted to be a manager again, there's no problem," said Pulis.

"If people think there is something out there that was better for themselves, I would always go with them.

"I don't know about the speculation.

"If it's the case, I would be desperately disappointed if Peter doesn't speak to me first and Bolton didn't speak to this football club first."

Offer

Meanwhile, Pulis has admitted he would be happy to have Megson working with him at Stoke.

Megson worked unpaid for Pulis a few years ago while he was between jobs and the Stoke boss would be happy to make the same offer again.

"Gary is well respected in the game, a good football man. He worked for me here for three months without pay, and did everything I asked him to do," added Pulis.

"Gary was here every day and he was exceptional in everything he did.

"He will get back into the game. I've known him since he was 15, I played under his father, and he is one of those people you would want on your side.

"If he wants to get his boots back on in time and do some work for me, he would be very welcome."
