Stoke manager Tony Pulis paid tribute to the performance of his players following the 3-2 victory over Fulham.

The damage was done in the first half as goals from Tuncay Sanli, Abdoulaye Faye and Mamady Sidibe gave Stoke a commanding 3-0 lead.

The Potters then had to survive a stirring fightback from Fulham, with Damien Duff and Clint Dempsey hitting the target to set up a tense finale.

And Pulis admitted it was a relief to cling on and secure three points at a snowy Britannia Stadium after a difficult run of results in recent weeks.

"I thought it was a good first half performance and we could have come in more than 3-0 up," Pulis told Sky Sports.

"But fair play to Fulham. They had nothing to lose and threw bodies forward. And when the second goal went in you do get a bit twitchy.

"I think we have played better than today and not got a result, and I think the lads were a little bit nervous in the second half.

"We want this place to be a bit of a fortress and to win again at home will give the lads confidence."

Tuncay was withdrawn due to a hamstring problem before half-time and Pulis will have to wait to discover the extent of the problem.

"They'll get him scanned and then we'll see," he added.
