Sunderland midfielder Bolo Zenden is frustrated that injuries have curtailed his impact at the Stadium of Light.

The midfielder, who boasts Liverpool, Chelsea and Middlesbrough among his former clubs, has made just six substitute appearances in the Premier League for the club.

Zenden has been suffering from hamstring problems of late, but is reportedly close to returning to action for manager Steve Bruce.

The 33-year-old has not suffered from muscular problems in the past and is now determined to impress for Sunderland in the second half of the season.

"It's been frustrating," conceded Zenden, who joined on a free transfer earlier this season after a spell with Marseille.

"In the last five years I've suffered no muscle injuries, then I get two or three hamstring problems since joining Sunderland."
