Manchester City striker Vladimir Weiss claims that he has signed on loan for Bolton Wanderers until the end of the season.

Skysports.com revealed that new Trotters boss Owen Coyle was leading the chase for the 20-year-old, and City counterpart Roberto Mancini later confirmed the news.

Weiss has now announced that he has put pen-to-paper with Bolton after snubbing interest from Wigan manager Roberto Martinez, who is on the verge of signing Villarreal striker Marco Ruben.

"Still on Thursday it looked in the balance, either Bolton or Wigan," the Slovakian told Dennik Sport.

Sympathetic

"I personally spoke with both managers, Mr Coyle and Mr Martinez. They are both very sympathetic, so in this aspect it was all-square in my decision-making.

"I would say that the decisive thing is that Bolton were more persistent. When I was going through the club, I thought, 'okay, this is the right club'."

It was rumoured earlier in the week that Weiss would not join Bolton because the forward had turned down an offer.

But the youngster insists that is not the case, adding: "I don't know where this piece of information came from.

"I have never said anything like that. I can't explain that, but now you see there is no sense in it as I have denied that by signing the contract."
