Phil Brown believes Hull City's game against Blackburn on Wednesday is their biggest match of the season.

The Tigers arrive at Ewood Park having followed up draws against Wolves and Chelsea with a surprise 2-1 win over Manchester City.

City are now just four points behind Rovers and Brown is hoping they end their poor away run and close the gap on Sam Allardyce's troops.

The East Yorkshire side are yet to win an away game this season and Brown is desperate for the Ewood points.

Biggest games

"People have made reference to the three home games against Wolves, Chelsea and Manchester City, but for me this is the biggest game of the season by a long way," he told Sky Sports News.

"It's one where we are going into the lion's den with a wounded animal. A 3-0 defeat against Stoke City will be hurting Sam and his players.

"They are going to be at it and up for it. They've got a tremendous home record. We're up against it, there's no doubt about it.

"Certainly with the way they play as well. They put you on the back foot. You've got to be able to defend set-pieces with their aerial threat in the penalty area.

"He's a strong man, he's a strong manager and he's got a strong team. I think it's our biggest game of the season.

"With us not having a game at the weekend, there aren't many games for us in February. We've got to put our best foot forward away from home and hopefully do sufficient to get our first away win."
