Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti does not believe that John Terry's relationship with England boss Fabio Capello will have been damaged by recent off-field controversies.

The defender has been stripped of the captaincy of his country following revelations about his private life.

Capello made the decision last Friday and has replaced Terry with Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand.

But Ancelotti, who has kept the centre-back as his skipper and will continue to do so at Everton on Wednesday, does not expect any prolonged difficulties.

Confident

The Chelsea manager is confident Terry and Capello can continue to work in harmony, saying: "The team is not just John Terry, there are some other fantastic players.

"I think nothing changes in the relationship between Capello and John Terry."

Ancelotti has also paid tribute to the consistency of Petr Cech after speculation had suggested that the goalkeeper was playing for his Chelsea future.

"When a player has a problem I want him close to me and the club," said the Italian in The Guardian. "This is football. Everybody can make mistakes. You must forget them and move forward.

"I have a very solid team because we have experience, strength, players who are unselfish, who like to play for their colleagues so I'm very happy about the mental attitude of this team."
