Hooper: Worth a lot of money
Cliff Byrne is hoping Gary Hooper stays at Scunthorpe United, but would not expect the striker to leave Glanford Park on the cheap.
Hooper took his tally for the season to 13 with a brace in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Watford and he has averaged a goal every two games since joining the Iron from Southend United in 2008.
The 22-year-old's prowess in front of goal has seen bigger clubs linked with a bid for the forward and Byrne feels his team-mate is worth a 'lot of money' to Scunthorpe.
However, skipper Byrne believes Hooper is happy at the Championship club and hopes the Iron do not decide to cash in.
"We'd like to keep hold of him, but finances dictate that, in some cases, players have to move on," said Byrne.
"But I can't see Gary going cheaply. If you've got a striker who can create something from nothing they're certainly worth a lot of money.
"He's done a terrific job for us and he's more than happy to stay and keep banging the goals in."
