Werder Bremen have confirmed that Aaron Hunt has signed a new long-term contract.

The German international midfielder, who was linked with a move to the Premier League, has signed a four-and-half year deal.

Hunt revealed his delight at putting pen-to-paper for Werder, saying: "Werder is and stays my sporting home.

"I feel very happy in Bremen and would like to continue my sporting development here in the coming years. I see very good conditions for that."

Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs added: "We are pleased that Aaron has carried on choosing Werder.

"He has excellent abilities and has been able to prove this consistently this season after many injury setbacks.

"We are certain that he will also make more appearances for the national team."

Hunt has been lauded for his displays this term, along with Mesut Ozil, and he now hopes that his fellow German international will follow suit in penning a new deal.

"I would be glad if me signing on at Werder would end up as a signal effect for Mesut. It would be great to see him staying on at the club as well," he said.

Shot-stoppers sign on

Meanwhile, Werder have also announced new deals for youth products Sebastian Mielitz and Felix Wiedwald.

Both goalkeepers have agreed two-and-a-half year deals.
