David Moyes says he is disappointed with Everton's recent form despite wins over Chelsea and Manchester United still being fresh in the memory.

The Toffees made a slow start to the campaign before surging up the Premier League table by compiling a run of just one defeat in 12 games.

The pinnacle of that sequence came when Moyes' side secured back-to-back league victories over the title-chasing teams.

However, Everton were brought crashing down to earth when a tame performance in Lisbon saw them knocked out of the Europa League at the hands of Sporting.

A league defeat at Spurs followed, with Moyes claiming that big-name scalps are meaningless unless the results are consolidated with further wins.

Big picture

"Overall, the last 10 or 14 days I would have to say are ones of disappointment," the Scottish manager said.

"If you look back a bit farther you would say it was great but I have said many times I don't want to be a side who beats Chelsea or Manchester United once but can't beat the sides we are supposed to beat and ends up finishing mid-table.

"I would rather not beat those teams, beat the teams we should beat and finish fifth, like we have done in the last few seasons.

"We have to get back to that. The word I am missing is consistency.

"We need to get a consistency of performance which gives you an idea where you can get your wins and get them more regularly."

With Everton's big victories both coming at Goodison Park, Moyes admitted he was glad to be back on home soil for the clash with Hull on Sunday.

He added: "It's always great to play at home. It'd be great if we could play at home every week."
