Sheffield United striker Ched Evans is in danger of missing the rest of the season with a suspected broken collarbone.

Evans sustained the injury during Tuesday's disappointing 1-0 defeat at Peterborough.

The former Manchester City man was injured in a hefty challenge with Posh keeper Joe Lewis and Blades boss Kevin Blackwell expects to be without the striker for the remainder of the season.

"Ched looks as if he's done his collar bone and if that's the case then we won't be seeing him again until after the summer. It's a massive blow," said Blackwell.

Injury problems

Blackwell was left counting the cost of the defeat to Peterborough with Jamie Ward and Lee Williamson both picking up hamstring problems to add to the side's injury troubles ahead of this weekend's clash with Queens Park Rangers.

"Jamie and Lee have both tweaked their hamstrings so they're huge doubts while Toni couldn't play because of a calf strain," added Blackwell.

"We've had a massive fitness crisis before and now we've got one again because people like Gary Naysmith and Derek Geary are also out.

"It couldn't have come at a worse time and now my biggest concern is being able to get a team out (for QPR)."
