Chester City have been wound up following a High Court hearing on Wednesday.

The crisis club were expelled from the Football Conference last month after a breach of five Conference rules.

Chester's record in this season's Conference was then expunged last week after they failed to appeal against their expulsion from the league.

The debt-ridden company behind the Blues, Chester City FC 2004 Ltd, faced a winding up order on Wednesday over an unpaid tax bill of £26,125 and at the hearing the club has now been wound up.

Chester's main supporters' body, City Fans United, are optimistic that they will be able to form a new professional football club for the city.
