Harry Redknapp was delighted to emerge with three points after a difficult game with Blackburn.

Tottenham ran out 3-1 winners at White Hart Lane on Saturday, further enhancing their claims for a top-four finish.

Jermain Defoe and Roman Pavlyuchenko did the damage for Spurs, with the in-form Russian hit-man adding another two goals to his tally for the season.

Redknapp was pleased to have negotiated a potentially tricky fixture in commanding style, with Rovers having put up quite a fight in the capital.

"Terrific result," he told Sky Sports.

"I felt today was going to be a difficult day because they are playing well. They are strong and they started the game well. The first 10-15 minutes they were on the front foot.

"They are a good team and they will win plenty of games. It was a big three points for us."

Dominated

Defoe broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time, but Redknapp insists his side had done enough during the opening 45 minutes to suggest they were capable of coming out on top.

"I wouldn't have been disappointed if we had come in at half-time 0-0," he said.

"I felt we played well first half, we got on top in the last 20 minutes of the half and really dominated.

"I was pleased with the way we were playing and the goal was the icing on the cake. To come in 1-0 was a big boost for us, so that was important."

Spurs lead the race for the last UEFA Champions League spot this term and Redknapp admits they can be rightly proud of their achievements so far.

He said: "I think us and Aston Villa were the two clubs at the start of the season that no-one would have seen in the top four - everybody felt Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal would dominate and Manchester City would be the team who would push for that spot.

"Maybe they will be right in the end, it might decide that way. But we have had a great year."
