Tottenham will not be selling Robbie Keane to Celtic, according to Joe Jordan.

Spurs' first-team coach has confirmed that the Premier League club will not be looking to sell in the summer.

Keane joined Celtic on transfer deadline day, as Spurs boss Harry Redknapp could not guarantee him first-team football.

Keane has taken little time in settling at Celtic Park and has weighed in with eight goals already for Tony Mowbray's men.

Mowbray has admitted they would be looking at Keane's future - but Jordan has told Celtic they would be wasting their time in pursuing him.

"Without a doubt [Keane will return], he's the captain," Jordan told the Sunday Herald.

"Harry [Redknapp] brought him back here and he was a major player in getting us out of trouble last season, not just on the pitch, but in the dressing room as well.

"He was an influential guy, he's a leader, and there's not many of them going about. It wasn't just the player, it was the person we wanted."

Happy

After scoring a hat-trick for Celtic on Saturday as Kilmarnock, which helped them into the Scottish Cup semi-finals, Keane said he was happy with how things were going north of the border.

"At my first game here I had only been at the club for about eight hours or something like that," Keane added.

"But as I said at the time if I get three or four games under my belt then you will see the benefits and, hopefully, now I am doing a job for the team.

"At a club like Celtic you need to be involved in these competitions, and certainly get to the final. It is vital we finish the season on a high. In the last few games things have started to pick up, and we have had some clean sheets which is always important for confidence.

"If we keep things going then who knows what we can achieve?"
