Brown: Disappointed to go
Although I am extremely sad to be leaving Hull City, I am very proud of my achievements during my time as manager.
Phil Brown
Quotes of the week
Phil Brown has claimed he was 'very disappointed' at Hull City's decision to relieve him of his duties.
As revealed by skysports.com, Hull announced earlier on Monday that Brown had been relieved of his duties and placed on gardening leave with immediate effect.
Brian Horton and Steve Parkin have been placed in charge of first-team affairs with the Tigers currently second from bottom of the Premier League table, three points adrift of safety.
"I am obviously very disappointed with the club's decision and the fact that I will now not have the opportunity to secure Hull City's status in the Premier League for a third consecutive season," Brown said in a statement released through the League Managers Association.
"Although I am extremely sad to be leaving Hull City, I am very proud of my achievements during my time as manager, especially having led the team into the top flight of football for the first time in the club's 104-year history and ahead of schedule.
"It has been a fantastic experience and I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all of the players, past and present, and also to my staff.
"Finally, I would like to thank the fans for their support and wish the club every success in the future."

RIDICULOUS!!! Hull will get what they deserve now. Phil Brown is a top man and has given Hull more than they have ever had and this is how he is treated. forget them Phil - good luck getting a new club. was always gonna happen with new chairman coming in. Hull are gonna be the new Portsmouth!!

This is probably the worst decision I've ever seen. Consider what he has done for Hull, and consider the size and budget of the club, it is an amazing achievement for his team to stay up last season. He is a good motivator, which is what a team that is fighting against the drop needs! But on the good side, West Ham are more likely to stay up now. Good luck Phil.

I dont think it is a good thing for anyone to lose their job and though I never really liked Phil Brown, I do have some sympathy at this time. I think clubs should live within their means (both big and small clubs) but I also think British managers should learn to be modest regardless of whatever succuess they get along the way. He is mocked because he got cocky. Anyway good luck to him!!

Hull are stupid sacking Phil Brown now... he was their only chance of Premiership survival and the board have panicked a blown it. Feel for all you Hull City fans.

Phil Carson (Bolton Wanderers fan) says...
Why now? Hull are capable of getting points out of every one of their remaining games. The only game against a top side is Liverpool at the KC which is also winnable! If Myhill hadn't fumbled to allow Bendtner to score would Brown still have a job? To think Megson might rescue Hull is the scariest thing I've heard in ages!

Hard luck Phil it was coming. Lack of tactics, moronic playing mentality and idiotic post match comments. The premiership will be a better place without you.

Had to chuckle at the comment from the Hammers fan. You don't get a bigger "plastic" club than West Ham. Definite candidates for the Championship - where they belong!

Feel for Brown, it's the standard promoted team "second season syndrome" Little club gets promoted Little club suprises the big boys and get's points that they really shouldn't be getting Club survives first season 2nd Season - Club struggles to maintain the same performances as 1st season, Club battles for relegation Club sacks manager Club collapses from the inside Club ends up in league 1 within 2 years.

Am I right to suggest that if Hull go down, will it go all pear shaped like Portsmouth have gone into??? I probabl guess so... With only 9 games left, why make a drastic change now, apart from the results something major would have occurred! Its a team that will always be surviving regardless if Phil Brown leaves anyway, unless they start preparing now for the drop. But these financialy small teams need the money the Premier League generate, I can't see them coming back up even with the team they have! All the best to Phil Brown, I can see him managing abroad or a lesser Championship Team.

how can you sack the best manager in the clubs history brought them into the premier league kept them in the premier league a team like hull is not a premier league side but phill brown got them there an has kept them there who ever is working above the management team really does not understand in loyalty when the team is going through a hard time even if hull did get relagated phill brown got them in the premiership and give them experience which hull have not had before stupid decision !!!

Forget what time the KO is for the next match - it's RKO for Phil Brown. This is unexpected but I am glad. Brown didnt do anything for the club that any other middle of the road manager could have done. For me, this is like an Arsene Wenger run-in from the locker room, quick 1-2-3 count and boom, the title changes hands....!

Phil Brown is finally getting what he deserves (SACKED) it should have happened last year when he accused Fabregas of spitting at his husband when he didnt and Hull should get relegated as well because they are not Premiership material, but to be fair to the Hull supporters i will admit that they are having a good season, they are second from bottom, they have sacked they're manager who ruined them by promoting them to the Premiership and now in with a real chance of RELEGATION. Hull and Phil Brown always have somthing to complain about, always moaning and now Arsenal have FINALLY got him out of there, Arsenal win this rivalry, well done and a big round of aplause to Arsenal, Arsene Wenger and Cesc Fabregas

John Breeze (Stoke City fan) says...
I personally have no time for Phil Brown as in the past he's shown he's an attention seeker and happy to let the players take the stick when things go wrong and hog the glory when things go well. I do think this is the wrong decision though. Against Arsenal on Saturday they seemed to show more character, togetherness and fighting spirit than I'd previously had them down for. I expected a meek slide into the Championship as a result of trying to play too many better teams at their own game. But with Bullard back and Altidore doing a bit of the rough stuff up front (and I don't include Boeteng's outrageous behaviour as acceptable rough stuff!) I fancied they may stay up if they all stuck together. Would they have sacked him if they'd hung on for a 1-1 draw? Now the dressing room will be split, and with no leadership they'll go down this season. Horton and Parkin can't manage a premier league team whilst no-one else will have time to come in and get things working.

I feel so sorry for Phil Brown, he wore his heart on his sleeve, gave 110%. Hull have messed up here big time. He has limited funds etc and look what he has achieved with basically a workman like squad. As for all the Arse loving side North London, If it wasn't for the ref Sol CAMPbell should have been sent off anyway! Brown would still be in a job, and you lot could moan, moan and moan some more!

Look on the bright side Phillip: at least you can top that tan up whilst pruning your garden. You can be proud of your achievement, that is winding every Gooner in the country up something rotten. Be proud Mr Brown. By the way, what's Mark Hughes up to these days?...

Colin Holsgrove - West Ham. You really are a mis-informed West ham fan. Check your history before posting such rubbish. Yes the clubs were once big clubs but deserve to be where they are. All clubs deserve to be where they are at the END of each season. Only the next 9 games will see if Hull City stay in the PL.. Clubs like Hull City are good for the PL. They could be top 10 if they get better investment and extend the stadium. Brace decision at this time though.

I am sorry for Phil, he needed more class, but had no money to spend. I was outraged on Saturday night when I heard that George Boetang had been sent off again. The second time in four games. As team captain this is totally unacceptable. I was surprised when Phil defended him. Maybe this and the WI incident was the last straw! Good luck Phil.
