The Football Association will not be taking any action against Liverpool's Steven Gerrard following his clash with Portsmouth's Michael Brown.

Gerrard collided with Brown late on when it appeared he used his forearm, which connected with the Pompey man.

The Liverpool skipper could have been in danger of picking up a violent conduct charge from the FA, if referee Stuart Attwell reported that he had not seen the incident.

But Attwell did see the incident and spoke with Gerrard, so as such the FA cannot take any action against him.

It is the second time in little over a week when Gerrard's on-field actions have been scrutinised by the FA.

Last week he looked to have issued a V-sign in the direction of referee Andre Marriner at Wigan - but he escaped punishment as again the official confirmed the incident had been noted in his report, which meant the FA could not take any retrospective action.
