Didier Drogba claims he is happy at Chelsea and even more determined to help the club to European glory.

The Ivorian striker endured a difficult night on Tuesday as the Blues crashed out of the UEFA Champions League to Inter Milan.

Former coach Jose Mourinho came back to haunt them, with a Samuel Eto'o strike at Stamford Bridge landing the Serie A giants a 3-1 aggregate success.

With Chelsea chasing the game late on, Drogba compounded their misery when he was shown a straight red card for an alleged stamp on Thiago Motta.

The African ace has now tasted bitter defeat in Europe in each of the last three seasons but, despite being one of the most sought-after forwards on the planet, he is confident that he can claim the crown with his current employers.

"The only thing I can say is that even if we won, I'm really happy here and most of the players here are really happy and we want to stay here and continue the adventure," said the 32-year-old in the wake of the disappointing defeat to Inter.

"It will mean a lot to win together next season because we have been trying hard for such a long time. I hope there is more from this team.

"Every season is different and I hope that next season will be different for us in the Champions League."

Ambition

Another man still hoping to get his hands on the most coveted trophy in club football is Michael Ballack.

The German has appeared in two finals, with Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea, but is yet to get his hands on a winners' medal.

At 33 years old he knows time is running out but, with a new one-year contract at Stamford Bridge currently on the table, he is hoping he can right those wrongs before he hangs up his boots.

"It's the situation and always you can make a decision," he said on his ongoing contract talks.

"We will find a way.

"I've played for 11 or 12 years every year in the Champions League, why should I give up?

"I want to win this competition once and want to play as long as I can at the highest level and Chelsea is a club that plays at the highest level - but Inter was a bad day for us.

"There is always a first time, the first time has to come and then maybe it is easier. But you have to fight for this first time."
