Liverpool ace Ryan Babel wants his team-mates to play like they did against Portsmouth on Monday for the remainder of the season.

The Reds had been on a poor run of late, however, that form went out the window in their 4-1 thrashing of struggling Pompey at Anfield.

Everything clicked on the night for Rafa Benitez's side with the likes of Babel and Alberto Aquilani getting their names on the scoresheet.

Babel was delighted with Liverpool's passion, concentration in defence and precision in attack and hopes they can maintain that level for the remainder of the season.

Important

"The three points were very important but now that passion and the way we played in defence and attack is the basis of how we have to play in the remaining games," he told the Liverpool Echo.

"I think we had a point to prove in terms of getting a result. I don't think the performance at Lille (in a 1-0 defeat) was as bad as some people thought but we definitely showed character against Portsmouth and hopefully we can now look forward.

"If you can score an early goal then confidence rises straight away. Then when a second comes everyone in the team feels confident and can play in a more relaxed way.

"It would definitely be nice to win at Old Trafford (on Sunday) like last year. But, first of all, hopefully Thursday will be good and then we'll go to Old Trafford full of confidence."
