Sunderland boss Steve Bruce says he will not stand in the way of keeper Marton Fulop leaving the club.

The Hungary international has spoke of his desire to leave the Stadium of Light this summer after falling behind Craig Gordon in the goalkeeping pecking order.

The 26-year-old feels the time is right to find a club where he will be permanent first choice between the sticks, and Bruce has no qualms about granting his wish.

"He has made it pretty clear in all sorts of interviews. He is not the number one - I have made my choice there," said Bruce.

"He wants to go and play football and we have to respect that and if there is a taker out there, then we will see what happens. But certainly, I won't stand in his way."

Fulop has been in English football for almost six years after Tottenham signed him from Bodajk FC in 2004 before Sunderland made a loan deal permanent in 2007.
