Jimmy Bullard tells skysports.com that Hull City's Premier League fate rests in their own hands.

With nine games of the 2009/10 campaign remaining, the Tigers find themselves inside the top-flight drop zone and under new management, in the form of Iain Dowie, following the dismissal of Phil Brown.

The basement battle is, however, as tight as ever, with just eight points separating Bolton in 13th from Hull in 19th.

Bullard believes there is still all to play for heading down the final stretch and is confident Hull have enough about them to ensure they keep their head above water.

"We are second from bottom in the Premier League, we are in the relegation zone, so it's not gone as planned. But it's a tough league," he told skysports.com.

Luck

"This is our second year in the Premier League, so we know what we have got to do. We have got nine games left, 27 points, and there are plenty of points up for grabs. I think there will be a few more twists yet.

"I have been involved in a relegation battle before (at Fulham). I was lucky enough to come out of it on the good side then and hopefully that will happen again."

He added: "It is tight. There a lot of teams involved and that is one of the things that goes for you. It's difficult when you are down there to enjoy it, but you have to try.

"But for me coming back from a long-term injury, I just want to get out there and help to keep Hull in the Premier League.

"We have got some good players. We have got a big squad and some good players. But we have got to take it out on the pitch, it's no good saying we have got this, we have got that. We have to make it count and get some points on the board.

Tight

"There are a lot of teams down there and around us who we have got to play so it's going to be good. It's going to be tight, but let's see what happens at the end of the season.

"I think we have got a bit too much to go down."

As mentioned, Bullard is still easing his way back into action following a third long-term knee injury.

He is confident he has left those troubles behind him, though, and feels he is ready to play a leading role for the Tigers during the end of season run-in.

He said: "I'd love to play through to the end of the season, I really would. I'm just taking it a step at a time and see where it takes us.

"I would love to play every game from now until I finish football, but that's me. If that will happen, I don't know."
