Cardiff manager Dave Jones could have a huge boost in the Championship play-off race after he revealed that Joe Ledley may return from hip surgery in April.

The Bluebirds had feared that they had lost the 23-year-old for the rest of the season after he went under the knife shortly after playing against Bristol City in January.

But Jones, who is preparing his side for Sunday's home match against Watford, is optimistic that Wales international Ledley could be back in action in 'two to three weeks'.

Jones told Cardiff's official website: "Joe goes to see the specialist on Monday and we'll find out whether he can start running again.

All-clear

"Once he can start running we're maybe looking at two to three weeks if everything goes well. So some time in April we might have him back.

"With Joe, I'm trying to push the physios to force it along, but they might tell me five weeks. It's just down to Joe.

"We've got to get the all-clear that he can start running and once he starts running, hopefully we can push him along. But it's still an injury that will take the timescale the specialist has given.

"I think Joe wants to play again before the end of the season but again, we are in the hands of the specialist and when he gives the all-clear."
