Barnsley boss Mark Robins is relishing the opportunity to work with new signing Liam Dickinson at Oakwell.

The 24-year-old forward has signed a two-year deal with the Championship outfit with an option for a third season after the Tykes agreed an undisclosed fee with Brighton.

Skysports.com revealed earlier on Wednesday that a deal was in the pipeline and the formalities have now been completed after the former Stockport trainee passed a medical in South Yorkshire.

Robins admits his latest acquisition is still not the finished article but believes he can be moulded into a better player.

Improvement

Robins told the club's official website: "He's only 24 and still has room for improvement and we're looking forward to working with him here.

"He has a decent scoring record both in the Championship and in the lower leagues and will be a good addition to our squad for the new season.

"Liam fits in to what we're trying to do here both in terms of on the pitch and within our budget."

Dickinson, Barnsley's fourth summer signing, was brought to the Withdean Stadium by Russell Slade in August 2009, but he struggled to maintain a first-team place once Gus Poyet was appointed and finished last season on loan at Peterborough.
