Derby County are still hoping to bring Everton striker James Vaughan back to the club for a second spell.

The Rams are looking to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season and have drawn up a list of possible targets.

Toffees ace Vaughan figures prominently in the thoughts of boss Nigel Clough and it is hoped he could be secured on a short-term loan deal.

The 22-year-old forward moved to Pride Park on a similar agreement in September 2009, but saw his time with Derby cut short by a knee injury.

Talks

Clough was keen to bring him in again later in the season, but missed out to East Midlands rivals Leicester.

He is, however, optimistic regarding his chances of landing a top target this time around, and that includes making a possible move for Vaughan.

"We are still trying to get a striker in and we are still talking to people about that," said Clough.

"There are a few who interest us and James is one of them."
