Yaya Toure has admitted it will be difficult for Manchester City to win the title in his first season at the club, but feels they can improve on last term's fifth-place finish.

Roberto Mancini's men have been tipped to challenge for top spot during the forthcoming campaign after a summer of heavy spending in the transfer market.

Toure is one of the players to arrive, having joined from Barcelona, and he made his debut in a pre-season game against Club America on Wednesday evening.

Speaking after the match, the Ivory Coast international set his sights on a successful career with the club.

Toure's main focus is on helping City qualify for the UEFA Champions League, while he is targeting the league title within a couple of years.

Happy

"I am very happy to sign for the club and I think this year will be very good for Man City," the midfielder told Sky Sports News.

"For the moment what I expect is for the club to go up, maybe finish third or fourth to be in the Champions League qualification.

"After one year with these players maybe we can take the championship.

"For now it is so difficult because with top teams like Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal they need to work hard to go up."
