Brede Hangeland insists he is happy to stay at Fulham and is looking forward to working with new manager Mark Hughes.

Norway international Hangeland has established himself as one of the most commanding centre-halves in the Premier League since joining Fulham in 2008.

He has been linked with a reunion with former Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson at Liverpool, while Arsenal are reported to hold a long-standing interest in the 29-year-old.

Hangeland is unfazed by the rumours surrounding his future and is keen to help Fulham progress following Hughes' appointment as Hodgson's successor.

Always been happy

"I've always been happy at Fulham and I've always said that," Hangeland told Sky Sports News.

"So that hasn't changed and I look forward to playing there again."

Regarding Hughes' appointment, he added: "Really happy to finally have appointed a manager. Obviously I don't know Mark Hughes, but I've heard a lot of good things about him and I look forward to working with him.

"I think we've got some good players and hopefully he can move us all in the right direction.

"We have always been working as a team and we hope to continue doing that under his guidance."
