Giggs: Record breaker
Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs believes Premier League youngsters will never get a chance of beating his records because they are pampered.
The 36-year-old has no plans to quit Old Trafford just yet and he hopes for continued success this season having already won everything in the club game.
The former Wales international has 23 winners' medals to his name during a glittering career under manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
But the midfielder believes that the young stars of today are showered with too much money before they are able to prove themselves.
Giggs told the Daily Star: "A lot of players now, before they've established themselves, get a lot of money, which I never got.
"I was on good money, don't get me wrong, but I was playing in the first team and I was on £30. I was on an apprenticeship wage.
"Then my next contract was like £200 with expenses and gradually contracts would get better the older you got. That was how I grew up.
"Now, before you're proven, you've got the money - a four or five-year contract - which is the way football's gone.
"Some players can handle it, some players don't. I've been at the club during its most successful era and been here a long time. It's going to be hard to beat.
"I'm not going to say it will never ever be done, but it will be tough."

Agree completely. Young players expect to be in the first team from day one and expect big money before they are proven to be worth the contract they desire instead of earning their place in the team. If young players don''t get their way they get all stroppy and demand a transfer. A sign that times have changed and not for the better.

Agreed, it''s epidemic across the entire world of professional sports. It''s just a game. But I suppose when you''re an oil tycoon who owns Man City, you''ve got nothing better to spend your money on than having a bunch of kids run around kicking a ball for your amusement. Heaven forbid you invest in something that might help the global economy.

Ryan Giggs will no doubt go down as one of the greatest players ever in English football, as a gooner its hard to say that about a Man Utd player but the guy has been consitent from his 1st appearance up till now, it''s a shame he played for Wales and never got to show his ability on the international stage.

Hi, i think what Giggs said is right, but we have to blame owners because sooner or later EPL won''t be interesting anymore. Look at Robinho, c. Ronaldo, berbatov & many others, some did well. Am a great follower of Chelsea fc for 14years & i named my eight months baby as Chelsea. Big up Sky & continue doing good job for Africa & the world. Thanks, Sammy
