Bulgaria coach Stanimir Stoilov has quit his post just two games into the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.

Stoilov saw his team go down to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Montenegro on Tuesday night to leave the Bulgarians bottom of Group G.

Bulgaria had endured a poor start last Friday when they were hammered 4-0 by England at Wembley and they face an uphill task to qualify for the finals in Ukraine and Poland.

Stoilov admitted it would be hard for him to turn their fortunes around and he immediately tendered his resignation following the loss.

"I wanted the team to get to the finals," the 43-year-old told reporters in the aftermath of the defeat in Sofia

"But it's obvious that after two defeats, one at home, it's going to be very difficult.

"I've already informed the team and Bulgarian Football Union president (Borislav Mihaylov) of my decision."

Stoilov had two spells in charge of Bulgaria, the first in 2007, before taking over the reigns again last year after leaving club football in the country.
