Argentina striker Carlos Tevez has hinted that he could soon be slipping into international retirement.

The Manchester City forward has won 56 caps for his country since making his debut back in 2004.

He helped Argentina win Olympic gold at the 2004 games in Athens and has turned out at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups.

At just 26 years of age, it was expected that he would grace that stage for a third time when football's showpiece event heads to Brazil in 2014.

However, Tevez says the rigours of a club career which has taken him from Boca Juniors to Manchester City via Corinthians, West Ham and Manchester United, are starting to take their toll.

Demands

He doubts whether he would physically be able to handle the demands of qualifying and competing at another World Cup, suggesting he could be about to call time on his international career.

"I'm tired. I'm 26. I'm old," he said.

"I don't know if I will make it to 2014."

While Tevez may not be gracing the scene in 2014, he has given no indication that he will step out of the limelight before next year's Copa America - which is set to be staged in Argentina.
