Millwall manager Kenny Jackett has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant Wales national post.

The Lions boss, a former Wales international, was immediately touted as a possible candidate once John Toshack confirmed he would be stepping down on Thursday.

It is easy to see why he is such a popular choice, as he has enjoyed productive spells at the helms of Watford, Swansea and Millwall.

The 48-year-old guided his current employers into the Championship last season and is enjoying life in the second tier.

He feels he still has unfinished business at The Den and had made it clear that he will not be walking away from that post any time soon.

Flattered

Jackett told Millwall's official website: "I understand there will always be media speculation whenever a managerial post becomes vacant and of course I am flattered to have been linked in some quarters with the Wales job.

"But, while at some time in the future the prospect of international management might be appealing, this is certainly not the right time for me.

"We have just been promoted to the Championship, it is still early days for us at this level and I am fully focused on my job here at Millwall."

The Lions have also issued statement saying they had 'not had, nor do they anticipate, any approach from the Welsh FA'.
