Magpies skipper reveals Llambias discussion over Hughton

Kevin Nolan believes it is now time for Newcastle United to move on following the fall-out from Chris Hughton's sacking as manager. Hughton was dismissed by the Magpies on Monday and the players were quick to voice their shock at the departure of the popular manager. Alan Pardew was installed as Hughton's successor and oversaw a 3-1 home win over Liverpool on Saturday in his first game at the helm. Captain Nolan opened the scoring in that victory and is now keen for results on the pitch to be the focus of attention at St James' Park.

Loony Toons

He said: "Even Alan said after the game, 'I know a lot of it was for Chris, I know a lot of it was for yourselves to prove to a lot of people' because we want to get away from that 'Loony Toons' tag, we want to get away from everything being up in the air at Newcastle. "We want to stay away from that part of the game. We want to just focus on our football and let that do the talking, and we did on Saturday." Nolan also revealed that managing director Derek Llambias spoke to the squad regarding Hughton's exit prior to the Liverpool game. The midfielder added: "It would have been tough for him to walk in because he knew how tough it was, but he came down, fair play to him, and told us the reason. "We will get on with it and that's it. We had our say, he had his say. We shook hands and now it is all about Newcastle United because we all want the same thing."
