Sandro is relishing the prospect of facing Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League but does not feel there is any reason for Tottenham to be scared.

Spurs have enjoyed a fairytale debut campaign in Europe's premier club competition but are not expected to go much further after being drawn against Spanish giants Real in the last eight.

Jose Mourinho's side boast a phenomenal array of world-class talent and Sandro admits it was exciting to discover they would be Tottenham's next opponents.

However, the Brazilian midfielder is confident of victory, insisting that Spurs have earned the right to be taken seriously as a major continental force.

"When I found out the news we were going to play Real Madrid, I was very happy," Sandro told Sky Sports News.

"It is a dream of mine, and any professional, to play against one of the biggest teams in the world.

"But at the same time we are going to go there without fear."

Strongest

Tottenham knocked out AC Milan in the last 16, having finished above Inter, FC Twente and Werder Bremen in the group phase.

Many players have enhanced their reputations, including Sandro, who has been in terrific form over the past few weeks after moving to White Hart Lane in the summer.

"We know Real have some of the best players in the world like Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria, but at the same time we've got fantastic players and we wouldn't have progressed this far in the competition if we didn't," the 22-year-old continued.

"People now know that Tottenham are one of the strongest teams in Europe, and we deserve to be up there playing against the best."

Hey Guys Big Spurs Fan Here, im excited about tonight, its going to very hard agaisnt madrid but at the end of the day we have made it this far, we have played well, even at inter at half time i was gutted but it shows you the team spirit, to carry and defend, we could have easily lost that game by more goals but we stuck in, and got 3 back. at the end of the day we can say we made it tonight, and even if we lose its a proud achievement to have got this far when in august we were 3-0 down to young boys. oh and one more thing, we got further that arsenal !!! come on you spurs

Lewis Bardley, Tottenham are a quality side. Nobody expected them to beat Inter Milan when they were 4-0 down at Inter, but they did. Nobody expected them to beat AC Milan, but they did. After results like this, you'd be a fool to say that they have no chance of beating Real. And to everyone else... not all City fans are as deluded as this boy, promise.

Lewis Bradley: If we lose over both legs, we can hold our heads high. Lets be fair, we may well get knocked out by Real, but how far did Man City get??? Oh yeah, perhaps you dn't realise you never reached the requirements! When Man City have won as many trophies as Spurs have over the years, maybe your opinion may count for something. Until then, hush up my friend, hush up.

As a Spurs fan for *cough* 30 years, I am of the opinion that Spurs are the greatest team there has ever been, or ever will be. Just as fans of Accrington Stanley sing about their own team. So given we are in the last eight of the Champions League, you cannot blame us for displaying our pride. If you feel the need to post comments that this annoys you, or you disagree, it just smells of envy to be honest.

Lewis bradley???????????? I have to admit that i have read loads of stupid pointless messages on here but congradulations you win the award for the most pointless. Due to the fact that your team man city are the most successful and powerful footballing team of all time you feel you can ridicule other teams that aren't doing as well as you. Oh hang on city have spent hundreds of millions and yet still have won nothing in over three decades. And as far as next year goes, when we win our game in hand on you and then beat you AGAIN i think that puts us in forth. Still enjoy the europa league again.

LOL at Gary Robson slating Spurs off. When in fact Chelsea are on the decline and will def be so when they lose Drogba, Terry, Malouda and Lampard through retirement. I am sorry mate Spurs will finish above Chelsea next season I am sure. If Harry brings in a quality striker who can bag 20 + goals a season another central defender and another left and right respectively Spurs will be as strong as they have been or possibly stronger. They are getting hard to beat in every game they have played this season. As long life Spurs fan I will laugh my head off when you bow out to Man Utd in the Quarter-Finals no way you'll beat them at Old Trafford. For Spurs to get to the Quarter-Finals in their first attempt is a massive achievement altogether it just shows how far Spurs have come. Spurs have also played the most attacking and best football in Europe and in the league compared to United, Chelsea, Liverpool etc. Scored in nearly all our games in the CL aprt from at home to AC Milan. But we kept 2 clean sheets. Who has Chelsea faced in their group lol mediocrity in comparison to Spurs who has had by far the hardest route to the quarter-finals. And it will only get worse if Spurs go go through to the semis potentially playing Barca in the semis. Chelsea have played Marseille, Spartak Moscow and MSK Zilina I am sorry mate calling those teams better than Inter Milan Werder Bremen and FC Twente I am afraid your wrong lol. Spurs have played the Italian Champions German Champions and Dutch Champions and blow them all away haha.

Matt Renton (Tottenham Hotspur fan) says...

Gary Robson: To get into the quarters Spurs have beaten Inter, Twente, Werder & Milan. Who have Chelsea beaten? Of all the teams remaining, I'd say Tottenham have had the toughest route. So for the time being, they've earned the right to call themselves one of the strongest teams, if only based on the fact that we're in the last eight in europe's top competition. Might as well enjoy it while we can!

Lewis Bardley (Manchester City fan) says...

if tottenham stand a chance they should organise a freindly with them or a team that has history with madrid like barcolona. better to go in ready then not knowing what idea madrid will have planed - tottenham ARE OUT!!!

Gary Robson- agree with you on some points and agree with Sandro on others. I do think we have done incredibly well to get as far as we have in our debut season- and I would confess that we may be punching above our weight a little in terms of how well we are doing now compared to the last 15/20 years. But the squad isn't punching above it's weight. I do think that the squad we have is one of the strongest in Europ and just because we are currently outiside of the qualifying places doesn't mean it isn't. This just goes to show that the Premier League is the strongest league in the world- if the supposed fifth best team in England is beating the two best teams in Italy. Madrid will be a great occasion and a great test for us- and even if it is a step too far, we'll enjoy the games and give it a right good go- who know's what might happen? As much as it pains me to say it, I do have a sneaking suspicion Chelsea could go all the way this year- although you have had a pretty favourable draw up to now.

Stef Anastasi (Tottenham Hotspur fan) says...

Another Chelsea fan pipping up cos they won a few games in a row........we aint one of the strongest teams in europe but neither are you. All your players are over rated and are getting old. terry, lampard, malouda, drogba, anelka are all past their best. I cant remember a decent game Torres has had in the last year as well.

Peter Raku (Tottenham Hotspur fan) says...

I have to agree with Gary Robson, we have had a dream debut, probably one of the most successful debuts ever. However we are a central defender short and a world class striker, plus a strong left back. To be strong within Europe we need to be top 3 year on year, saying that with our injuries [usual] to key players we are playing as a team more than anyone else at the moment, we need Defoe to score 1 out of his every 3 chances, or even 1 out of his 20 chances would do! Huddlestone back ASAP. I wonder if Jose will be at Spurs when Arry takes over the England job, now that would be a Levy coup of all coups! I just wonder....

Jamie Bale (Tottenham Hotspur fan) says...

Well, looking at where we are in the CL I would say we were in the top 8... I think we could beat anyone at home in European competition bar Barcelona at the moment. We have to go on a winning streak though as it is between us and City for 4th again. We then would be a major player. We could then attract players on account of regualr CL football and bnot just with ricdiculous wages like City do. We are the only club in the top 7-8 teams in Premier League who are in less than 50 mil debt!!

Paul Strange (Tottenham Hotspur fan) says...

Gary , they've definitely been 1 of the strongest teams in the CL this year as the QF place proves, and as for your last comment, completely outta left field.

Gary Robson (Chelsea fan) says...

"People now know that Tottenham are one of the strongest teams in Europe, and we deserve to be up there playing against the best." I'm sorry, Tottenham are strong but I wouldn't say one of the strongest in Europe. They've done incredible to get as far as they have, but in reality they might not even make Europe next season.
